Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Settlers Primary, proudly an Independent Public School.

Settlers Primary opened in 2005. The school is a modern and innovative educational campus boasting state of the art facilities catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Settlers Primary is a large school with an enrolment in excess of 700 students.

Our vision is for all students at Settlers to be as successful as they can. Every child will be provided with the opportunities to succeed. Success may be in the form of academic success but of equal importance, is our holistic approach to ensure students are given opportunities to be successful creatively, physically, socially and emotionally.

Our mission statements sit at the core of what we do and describe how we operate, make decisions and build relationships on a daily basis.
We prioritise the learning of literacy and numeracy by providing a strong start in the early years of schooling and consolidating this over students’ primary schooling years to ensure we build strong literacy and numeracy foundations.

We are aware of our responsibilities in equipping students for living and working in the 21st Century. Technologies are incorporated throughout the school’s learning programs allowing students to explore, innovate, create, collaborate, think critically and problem-solve. We seek to develop students who are environmentally and globally aware and responsive, and who will contribute positively to the world in which they live.

Pivotal to student success is the role of the teacher, and at Settlers Primary we prioritise recruitment and development of quality teaching staff so that our programs and practices align to current research and evidenced-based practice. We have outstanding specialist staff, The Arts, Physical Education, German Language and Science. Our teachers are enthusiastic, dedicated and caring, working hard to ensure every student achieves success.

The school is the hub of the local community and we work in partnership with our families and local community to instil a sense of connection and engagement, and to develop relationships where members of our school community feel welcome, included and respected. Our School Board supports effective school governance; our P & C provide the forum for parents’ engagement in also supporting our school. I encourage you to review our website; you will find an array of information about our great school.

We look forward to welcoming you into our Settlers family.
